छिलकों के साथ
मैं फेंकने जा रहा था
दाग़ी आलू

वह आई
और उसने एक एक करके चुन लिए
सब दाग़ी आलू
फिर उसने काटकर अलग किया उसका वह हिस्सा
जो सड़ा था

मैं शर्मिन्दा था
आलू का एक बड़ा हिस्सा अच्छा और बेदाग़ था

मुझे लगा
कितना कुछ बचाया जा सकता है
इस तरह
पृथ्वी पर

English Translation of the poem
          Vinod Das
      Tainted Potatoes

I was about to
throw away
the tainted potatoes
along with its peel

She came
Picked back
all the tainted ones
one by one

Then she carefully
Pared the rotten one
from the good

I was ashamed
a large portion of the potatoes
was actually fresh and spotless

And I felt
So much good could be salvaged
in this manner
on this earth
of ours
