आत्महत्या के विरुद्ध / पंकज चतुर्वेदी /असद ज़ैदी
एक बार किशोर अवस्था में
हताशा के किसी क्षण में
मैंने माँ से कहा :
'मैं आत्महत्या कर लूँगा !'
उन्होंने जवाब दिया :
'मेरे साथ यह घटियाई
मत करना !'
वह बहुत कम
पढ़ी-लिखी हैं
पर जो ज्ञान
उन्होंने मुझे दिया
आज तक
किसी किताब में
नहीं मिला।

AGAINST SUICIDE
In one of those dark moments
of adolescence
I once told my mother:
‘I will kill myself.’
She simply said:
‘Don’t ever inflict
this sort of baseness on me!’
She could barely
read and write.
The lesson
she taught
was never to be found
in any book.
