महमूद दरवेश के बाद
उन्होंने उसकी (कवयित्री की) आवाज़ खोजी,
और एक मैदान में बने कीचड़ के खड्ड में
अचानक एक बस के पलट जाने की आवाज़ सुनी
उन्होंने उस बस को खोज निकाला
और उसकी रेगज़ीन की सीटों की हिम्मत देखी
उन्होंने उसके लोहे के जंग लगे स्प्रिंगों को सूँघा
और उनके साहस के बारे में मालूम किया
फिर उन्होंने उस जंग को ढूँढ़ निकाला और
अपने अँगूठों के पोरों से उसको चखा
उन्होंने अपने अँगूठों से उनके होठों को छुआ
और अगले तीन वर्षों मे कहा — अच्छा।

And they searched the rust, tasted nothing but the tips of their thumbs.
And touching their thumbs to their lips they said well in another three years.
