Kavita Kosh

        Swadesh Bharati
Pleasure and Pain

Tranquilly Tranquilly and anxiety
Comforts and misery
Happiness, glory and doubt
Could you get any of these
Both respectively got
their replies in Yes and No

There was silence, thereafter
neither questions were asked
nor answers given
Both shook hands

Both were passing through the jungle
of prickly pears, cactus
There they met a black serpent
Both stopped a short,
were wavering to go forward
Musing and thinking
they planned their ways to continue their
journey ahead

One said — There are thorns in happiness
The other said —
There are only thorns in unhappiness.
Then they both uttered in unison
life is full of Joy and Sorrows
So let us cross first the thorny jungle
then have to reach the other side of the river quietly

mynah sitting on a branch meanwhile exclaimed
There is a state of experience beyond
both Pleasure and Pain-s state of mind
when and where none
of these apposite are felt. The min's
equanimity is never unbalanced and forever
one goes through any of them without a waver.
